Each day we are getting dozens of private messages of support and other ideas. We would like to start sharing some of these. This is one from Marcela here in Sidney. Amazing person and we so enjoyed talking to her. Here is her comment….
My reason for messaging is to maybe bring some answers and get activities going for our youth. Something like a youth center? Where I grew up, the community banded together and fought hard to get one put in. Kind of arcade mixed with a lounge and of course a stage. Thoughts?
Also, could we see about bringing Rocktoberfest back?? Or even something similar? It had been a handful of years since it’s been held if memory serves me correctly, but I want to say it was held Friday and Saturday night of Oktoberfest at St Pat’s. Cool shindig for youth to go to instead of being at the tent. It started with live bands that were local, and then I believe it was just a dj the last few years of it. I really think that our current youth need something like this, and things like this to happen more often.
Awesome idea that we as a community need to talk about. Marcela also brought up some other points as we continued our conversation…
Marcela said “Another thing, why does it seem like Sidney isn’t trying to bring in restaurants? I fully know the pandemic really hurt the restaurant business across the nation, and the lack of workers, but seriously, there are how many places to sit down and have dinner that’s not fast food….and one that serves breakfast when they are open?”
I would like the answer to that one. LOL.
Let’s talk about it Sidney and get some ideas for our community leaders. I know some of them are on this page, maybe they can give us some guidance. All ideas welcome!!!
