Oh boy, we have troubles. And it is clear to see.
We all need to vent them and I want everyone to vent them. One reason why this page is here. We NEED to hear all the problem areas. We also need to find solutions. We will find solutions because we are a great community. We will have a town hall where everyone can come together to hear the problems and then work on solutions.
Let me say this….. Our county and city workers are working their hardest. They are fighting a tremendous battle with limited resources. I live downtown. I see them all night long working to clear the snow when no one is around. The smartest thing to do. We can’t expect them to work all night then also during the day. It is not safe. The people that work for us are really doing the best they can. During our last event, I talked to the city manager and complained that a snow plow hasn’t come by my nephew’s home yet. It had been 3 days. His street is packed. He said I know, I live on the same street just a few doors down from your nephew. He offered to come over in the evening and help dig my nephew out. It is not our people, some of their homes are buried and yet they are out, working and digging out other people. It is a situation though that needs to be fixed. There are dangers.
We all need to vent and get angry and push, that needs to happen if we want these issues fixed, but don’t make it personal. We shouldn’t do that, because we need to get angry at the problem, not our people. Problems need to be heard and solutions need to be found. We need to hear every problem area and find ways to address them. Some of the streets are horrible, dangerous, and icy and people are going to get hurt. We can’t always stay home, but also realize some of our workers are putting in 14 hour days to clean this mess up and they are trying.
It always comes down to money and what a lot of people don’t realize is liability. We can’t have a fleet of snow plows and operators and at the same time fix all the other problems, but, maybe these problems are bigger and need to be pushed to the front of consideration. We only know when people talk about it. So please, list every problem area. Vent it on this page. This is why we are here, but also realize our cities and counties are limited. It is not for lack of trying by any means. I see them working all night long. Sometimes things can’t be done because of liability.
We all need to hear the issues. We need communication. We need ideas. Post them here Ask the questions! Let’s have some town halls and get it all out there. Come together, and find solutions. As Eric and others have said, there is money there. Just how are we going to use it better?
