Last night we heard that Bass Pro / Cabelas is removing several more internet jobs from the Sidney area starting this month and will remove even more by the end of the year. This is sad. Why? We will be asking this question of management because if this can be fixed for future businesses, it needs to get done.

As we connect with more people and businesses and they tell us their stories, it is clear that change has to happen for Sidney and Cheyenne County.

We understand several of you have differing opinions about this company. It is a fact though that they have continued to pay millions in taxes to this County since shutting down many operations 5 years ago. We can not blame them for moving more operations elsewhere, to a more friendly business state.

We are losing 200 to 300 residents each year. We are losing businesses. We have hit the limit. The time has come for some reasonable discussions and change.

Cheyenne County is a wonderful place with amazing people. Yesterday we talked to several that are just having a hard time right now with the cost of everything. Let’s come together and figure this out. Time for new ideas. No more, “well that is the way it has always been”. Change has to come! We ALL must take part and make a change for the future.
