Ok, it is the first time for us.
Never in 40 years of owning businesses in several states have we ever put up a political sign. I have always believed that businesses should be independent. This election is different. Today we take a stand. This county needs change. This county needs government accountability. This county needs relief for its citizens who are on limited incomes.
Today I read the front page of the newspaper which had interviews with both candidates, and frankly, I was surprised. The question was “what do you see as the role of the assessor?” One candidate listed 9 areas where we need to be taxed from personal property to airplanes and then said there were more. The other candidate said “the need to be involved with the public”.
Ok. I know who I am voting for. I want someone that doesn’t just look at the tax that can be collected on each item I own. I want someone who will listen to my concerns. I want to be able to fix my building for the appeal of Sidney, without fear.
