Good Morning Sidney,
Like we said we are here to ask questions and open discussions as to what is happening in Sidney. Recently most of the citizens of Cheyenne County went through yet another property tax increase. Why was it needed? Has anyone experienced an increase in services? We do know that very recently Cheyenne County purchased a beautiful building in the downtown area. The exact reason we are not sure of and have filed a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request with the county asking for more information behind the purchase. Since the population of Sidney has been overall decreasing for several years we would like to have a discussion as to why more County Buildings are needed when we have so many roads etc that need repair. Why do we need more County Buildings when we have other safety projects that could be funded? Purchasing this building removes more tax revenue from the county ($7,500 per year) which is just one of the possible reasons our taxes went up. Time to find out more and talk about it!
I saw that building for sale a couple months ago. It was an attorney office. If the population of Sidney is going down as we all felt since Cabela’s offices left, why do they need more offices? Doesn’t make sense. They building I believe was for sale for like $350,000. Unreal…
