Nebraska Drops in National Ratings

A wonderful website for everyone that is concerned with taxes and the direction of Nebraska to explore is TaxFoundation.org I will put a link below to this newer report.

In 2021 Nebraska was rated as the 28th most business-friendly state. For 2022 Nebraska drops to 35. Wyoming maintains its position at number 1.

While many in our government are working hard to correct the horrible taxing situation that is stopping many businesses from coming to Nebraska, some local county boards seem not to care and continue to raise taxes making a more unfriendly business environment. The basic premise is, more business, more revenue, and then everyone’s property tax can go down. Increase taxes, businesses don’t come, costs go up and you are in a cycle where property taxes have to be constantly raised to cover the increasing costs.

TIME FOR CHANGE

Tonight we have a community meeting at 6pm at the Sidney Fine Art Center at the corner of 11th and Jackson. Come talk with your fellow residents and let’s share some ideas, learn a few things and make plans for change. It takes everyone!

PS… Contrary to what our county assessor is taxing us on, our main large room has no heat or air conditioning so dress accordingly. 😁
